Faire SEO Guide: How to Get Your Products Found by Retailers
4 min read · 9 Oct 2026

A practical Faire SEO guide for wholesale brands: how Faire matches retailer searches, and how to improve titles, descriptions, product types, collections and storefront presentation without guesswork.
Listing products on Faire is only half the job. Retailers still need to find them, and that happens mostly through Faire's own search and browse pages. Faire SEO is the work of making your products match the way retailers actually search, and making your listings convincing once they do.
This guide covers what Faire has said publicly about how search works, and the parts of your shop you can control. We have deliberately left out guesses about hidden ranking factors.
What Faire says about its search
Faire describes its search as a machine-learning system that personalises results for each retailer and considers over 100 factors (Faire Help Center: Understanding Search and Ranking). Two practical consequences follow:
- You can't check your ranking by searching yourself. Faire notes that your own results will not match what retailers see.
- No single trick moves rankings. The reliable path is clearer product information and good brand performance over time.
Faire's brand blog groups the key factors into three areas: your product names, descriptions and categories; retailers' prior activity and engagement; and brand performance (Faire blog). Only the first is fully in your hands day to day, so that's where Faire SEO starts. For a deeper look, read how Faire search ranking works.
1. Start with keyword research from the retailer's side
Retailers search for things they can put on a shelf: “soy candle”, “linen tea towel”, “baby gift set”, “dog bandana”. Before rewriting anything, list the words a buyer would use for each product:
- Product type (what it is)
- Material, scent, colour or size
- Style or aesthetic (“minimalist”, “vintage”, “boho”)
- Use or occasion (“wedding favour”, “teacher gift”, “holiday”)
Good sources are your own retailers' questions, the language on competing listings in your category and Faire's published trend reports. Avoid inventing terms retailers don't use.
2. Write product titles that match searches
Faire calls product titles the strongest ranking signal, and says it matches retailer search terms against your title, description, product type and category (Faire Help Center: seasonal listing refresh). Faire also says exact matches are prioritised ahead of synonyms (Faire blog).
- Keep titles around 35–60 characters, as Faire recommends.
- Lead with what the product is, then the details that set it apart.
- Use title case and correct spelling. Don't use SKUs or collection code names as titles.
- Don't stuff unrelated keywords; Faire's own guidance asks for no unrelated keywords (Faire Help Center: How to make your products stand out).
Our Faire product listing optimization guide goes through titles field by field.
3. Make descriptions useful, not just keyword-rich
Descriptions help Faire judge relevance and help retailers decide. Lead with the benefit, then give facts a buyer needs: materials, dimensions, care, and what makes the product sell in a shop. Faire automatically uses AI to enhance new listings whose descriptions are under 50 characters (Faire Help Center: AI product optimization), which tells you how much it values complete product information. It's better to write that information yourself.
4. Choose accurate product types and categories
Product type and category feed both search and browse. Choose the most specific accurate option, not the broadest one. A wrong category can keep a product out of the browse pages where retailers look for it. Keeping this consistent across a large range is part of Faire catalog optimization.
5. Use imagery that sells in search results
In a grid of results, the first image does most of the work. Use a clean main shot, then lifestyle and in-store display images so a retailer can picture the product on their shelf. Faire's listing guide lists imagery alongside name and description as a core area to get right (Faire Help Center).
6. Organise collections the way retailers shop
Group products into collections by category, season or use, such as “Holiday gifting” or “Best-sellers”. Faire recommends seasonal collections and seasonal title refreshes as ways to stay relevant through the year (Faire Help Center).
7. Treat the storefront as part of SEO
Search brings a retailer to a product. The storefront decides whether they trust the brand enough to order. A clear brand story, consistent imagery and plain terms all help. That's the focus of Faire store optimization.
8. Connect visibility to conversion
Faire's search aims to increase sales for brands, and brand performance is one of its stated factor groups. Visibility and conversion therefore support each other. Clear wholesale and retail pricing, sensible minimums and reliable fulfilment help turn visits into orders. See Faire CRO for that side of the work.
9. Review performance and refresh regularly
Check product views and orders in your brand portal, update titles and collections for each season, and keep the catalog current. Faire suggests refreshing titles quarterly (Faire Help Center).
A quick Faire SEO checklist
- Titles describe the product clearly, 35–60 characters, with no SKUs
- Descriptions cover benefit, materials, size and use
- Each product has the most accurate product type and category
- The main image is clean, and lifestyle images are included
- Collections reflect how retailers merchandise
- Seasonal titles and collections are refreshed each quarter
- The storefront story and terms are complete
