Amazon Seller Strategy 2026: 7 Changes Every Amazon Brand Needs to Know
8 min read · 27 Sept 2026

Amazon is rapidly changing how sellers manage, advertise, and grow their businesses. Here are seven 2026 developments Amazon brands should understand now.
Amazon is changing.
But the biggest change isn't simply another Seller Central feature, another advertising option, or another marketplace update.
Amazon is increasingly using AI to connect the different parts of the seller experience. Seller operations, inventory, advertising, product discovery, compliance, business buying and international expansion are becoming more connected.
At Amazon Accelerate 2026, Amazon introduced a new generation of tools designed to help sellers manage their businesses with more intelligent and automated workflows.
For Amazon brands, that raises a bigger question: what does all of this mean for the way you should actually run and grow your Amazon business?
Here are seven developments Amazon sellers should understand in 2026—and what they mean from a marketplace growth perspective.
1. Amazon Seller Central Is Becoming More AI-Driven
According to Amazon Selling Partners, Amazon announced a major upgrade to its seller tools at Amazon Accelerate 2026, including an expanded Seller Assistant and redesigned seller workflows.
Amazon says Seller Assistant now connects areas including sales, inventory, advertising and compliance, and powers a redesigned Seller Central built around connected workflows, along with a visual workspace Amazon calls Canvas.
The important shift is this: Amazon is increasingly trying to turn Seller Central from a collection of separate dashboards into a more connected operating environment.
The Amazon AI shift (conceptual)
Old: Manual dashboards · Manual checks · Manual workflows
New: Connected data · AI assistance · Automated workflows · Human strategy
For sellers, that could reduce time spent manually checking repetitive tasks. But automation does not eliminate the need for strategy. It makes strategy more important.
A seller still needs to know:
- Which products deserve more investment
- Which products need better positioning
- Where advertising spend makes sense
- When inventory should be increased
- Which markets are worth entering
- Which problems require human attention
2. Seller Assistant Is Moving From Answers Toward Action
One of the more important changes is that Seller Assistant is increasingly designed to do more than explain problems.
In its September 2026 announcement, Amazon says new Seller Assistant workflows can continuously monitor and execute routine tasks such as restocking and pricing adjustments, with audit trails and seller-defined guardrails. Amazon also announced a plugin that brings Seller Assistant into Amazon Quick and, in beta, Anthropic's Claude.
This changes the role of AI inside marketplace management. Instead of "Tell me what is wrong," the direction is increasingly "Find the issue, explain it, recommend an action and—where permitted—help execute it."
For Amazon brands, this could change how internal teams and agencies spend their time. Instead of hours on repetitive marketplace administration, teams can potentially spend more time on:
- Product strategy
- Brand positioning
- Listing quality
- Advertising strategy
- Customer experience
- New product opportunities
- Market expansion
The goal should not be to automate everything. The goal should be to automate the repetitive work so human attention can move toward higher-value decisions.
3. Amazon Advertising Is Becoming More Conversational
Amazon advertising is also moving into a more conversational environment.
According to Amazon Ads, Alexa for Shopping lets customers ask questions, create shopping guides and generate product comparisons, and advertisers can take part through sponsored ads and Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands prompts.
Conversational commerce (conceptual)
Traditional: Search → Ad → Product → Purchase
Emerging: Question → AI → Comparison → Recommendation → Purchase
That means brands need to think beyond keyword targeting. They also need to consider whether their product information is clear enough for AI-powered shopping experiences to understand—something we explored in Is Your E-commerce Store Ready for AI Shopping?
Important product information includes:
- Product specifications
- Product benefits
- Use cases
- Reviews
- Pricing
- Availability
- Variations
- Product images
- Brand information
A product that is difficult to understand can become difficult to recommend.
4. Amazon Ads Is Expanding Into ChatGPT
Amazon Ads announced on September 10, 2026 that it is partnering with OpenAI to support advertising in ChatGPT. According to Amazon Ads, select advertisers in the U.S. are currently testing ChatGPT Ads as part of a pilot—this is not yet available to all Amazon advertisers.
This is an important development because it connects Amazon advertising with conversational product discovery outside the traditional Amazon storefront.
Instead of thinking only about "How do I get my product higher in Amazon search?", brands increasingly need to consider "How does my product appear when shoppers use AI to explore, compare and make purchase decisions?"
This does not mean Amazon search optimization is disappearing. It means the discovery environment is becoming broader. Amazon brands should pay attention to:
- Product information quality
- Structured product data
- Reviews
- Brand information
- Product positioning
- Search intent
- Advertising
- AI-driven discovery
5. Amazon Is Creating More Opportunities for B2B Selling
Amazon is also expanding the tools available to sellers targeting business buyers. Amazon Selling Partners describes reaching business buyers as part of the growth tools announced on Day 2 of Accelerate 2026, and Amazon introduced Amazon Business Deals, giving sellers a way to offer business-specific incentives.
For brands that traditionally think only about consumer sales, this creates another strategic question: could your products also serve business buyers?
Depending on the category, potential opportunities may include:
- Office purchasing
- Hospitality
- Restaurants
- Corporate purchasing
- Professional services
- Bulk purchasing
- Institutional buyers
Not every product is suited to B2B. A useful B2B evaluation should consider:
- Product suitability
- Order quantities
- Pricing
- Margins
- Packaging
- Shipping
- Repeat purchasing potential
- Customer support
Do not simply add B2B because Amazon makes it available. Evaluate whether it fits the economics of the business. (We see the same principle in wholesale marketplaces—see Faire Wholesale Trends 2026.)
6. Global Selling Is Becoming More Connected
International expansion has traditionally required sellers to deal with multiple marketplaces, listings, inventory considerations, pricing decisions and compliance requirements.
According to Amazon Selling Partners, Amazon's Accelerate 2026 announcements include tools for shipping globally from a single account, part of a push toward a more connected global selling experience.
This could make international expansion easier to evaluate and manage. But "easier" does not mean "automatic." Before expanding into another marketplace, brands should evaluate:
- Demand
- Competition
- Product-market fit
- Pricing and currency
- Duties and taxes
- Compliance
- Inventory and fulfillment
- Localization
- Returns
- Customer support
International expansion should be treated as a commercial strategy, not simply a marketplace setting.
7. Amazon DSP Is Expanding Into More Markets
Amazon Ads announced on September 25, 2026, in its product announcements, that Amazon DSP has expanded to five new locales: Belgium, Poland, Singapore, Egypt and South Africa.
Amazon says advertisers in these countries can now programmatically buy display, video and audio advertising across Amazon properties and the open internet.
For brands operating internationally, this is another example of Amazon broadening the tools available for full-funnel advertising. However, availability does not automatically mean every brand should use DSP. Brands should first understand:
- Their customer journey
- Their audience
- Their advertising economics
- Their conversion path
- Their measurement setup
- Their geographic priorities
The strategic question is not "Can we run DSP?" It is "Would DSP solve a meaningful growth problem for our brand?"
What All of This Means for Amazon Brands
The individual announcements are important. But the bigger story is how they connect.
Amazon is increasingly connecting AI, marketplace operations, advertising, product discovery, B2B, global selling and fulfillment. That means Amazon strategy should also become more connected.
A brand should not treat listing optimization, advertising, inventory, pricing, reviews, operations and expansion as completely separate activities. They influence each other.
For example: better product positioning → better customer understanding → better listing engagement → better conversion opportunity → more efficient advertising → more predictable inventory planning.
The exact relationship will differ by business, but the principle remains: Amazon growth is a system, not a collection of isolated tasks.
AI Doesn't Replace Amazon Marketplace Strategy
This may be the most important point in the entire article. Amazon is giving sellers increasingly sophisticated AI tools. But AI does not automatically solve:
- Weak product-market fit
- Poor margins
- Bad product positioning
- Weak product photography
- Poor reviews
- Uncompetitive pricing
- Weak listings
- Poor advertising economics
- Inventory problems
- Compliance problems
AI can help execute and analyze. Strategy still determines what should be done.
That means the strongest Amazon teams will likely be the ones that combine AI automation, marketplace expertise, commercial strategy, creative thinking and human judgment.
What Amazon Brands Should Do Now
Use this as a practical 2026 Amazon checklist.
1. Audit Your Top Listings
Review your highest-priority products for titles, images, bullets, descriptions, A+ Content, reviews, variations and product information.
2. Review Your PPC Structure
Look at campaign structure, search terms, match types, product targeting, budget allocation, conversion and advertising efficiency.
Do not increase spend simply because traffic is lower than expected. First understand what is happening after the click—the same lesson we cover in Why Your Shopify Store Gets Traffic But Doesn't Convert.
3. Improve Product Information
Make sure customers—and increasingly AI-powered shopping systems—can clearly understand what the product is, who it is for, why it matters, how it is used and what makes it different.
4. Identify Repetitive Work AI Can Handle
Review your current workflow. Tasks that are repetitive, rules-based, time-consuming or data-heavy may be candidates for automation.
5. Evaluate B2B Opportunities
Ask: could this product work for business buyers? If yes, evaluate the economics before investing heavily.
6. Review International Opportunities
Don't expand simply because a marketplace is available. Identify where demand exists, margins work, competition is manageable, fulfillment makes sense and compliance is achievable.
7. Build a Connected Amazon Growth System
Connected Amazon growth system (conceptual)
Product → Listing → Advertising → Conversion → Inventory → Customer Experience → Repeat Demand
Repeat demand matters as much on Amazon as anywhere else—see The First Purchase Is Not the Goal. And if you are heading into peak season, pair this checklist with The 2026 Q4 E-commerce Playbook.
The Biggest Amazon Strategy Mistake in 2026
The biggest mistake is treating every Amazon update as another task to add to your workload.
- A new AI tool does not mean "Add another tool."
- A new advertising product does not mean "Increase the advertising budget."
- A new international marketplace does not mean "Expand immediately."
- A new B2B feature does not mean "Start selling B2B tomorrow."
The right question is: "What problem does this solve for our business?"
That is the difference between adopting technology and actually using it strategically.
Where Galaxy Team Fits
At Galaxy Team, we help brands look at Amazon as a connected growth system rather than a collection of individual marketplace tasks.
Our Amazon capabilities can include:
- Amazon FBA strategy
- Amazon FBM support
- Product listing optimization
- A+ Content strategy
- Amazon PPC
- Product research
- Marketplace CRO
- Product positioning
- Catalog optimization
- Marketplace growth strategy
- Amazon operations support
- Data and performance analysis
We also look at how Amazon connects with the broader commerce ecosystem. For brands operating across Shopify, Amazon, Faire and Wix, the goal is not to optimize one channel in isolation. It is to build a stronger commerce system across the customer journey.
Amazon is one marketplace. Your growth system should be bigger than one marketplace.
Amazon Is Changing. Your Strategy Should Too.
The Amazon marketplace of 2026 is becoming more automated, more conversational and more connected.
AI is taking on more operational work. Advertising is moving toward conversational experiences. Product discovery is becoming more intelligent. B2B opportunities are expanding. International selling is becoming more connected.
The opportunity isn't to chase every new feature. It is to understand which changes actually matter for your business—and build a strategy around them.
The future Amazon seller won't simply ask "How do I sell more on Amazon?" They'll ask "How do all the parts of my Amazon business work better together?"
That is the question worth answering.
